After the nationwide vote....

Adam...you SUCK! Kris Allen won!!! I am so excited!

What We've Been Doing Lately...

*Getting matching Mohawks??!! NOT OKAY! Never let your husband go and get his hair cut alone this is what mine came back with!!

*Having play dates with my little cousins Carson and Justin. We are so lucky to have them both right here in pasco with us! DaleAnne and Garalene and I love the adult conversation we get to have while the kids play/fight over toys! No biting has occurred yet (knock on wood!)

*Playing in the water. Lacy LOVE LOVE LOVES water and can't get enough! She has been keeping her ear putty in which is really good because absolutely NO water can get in those ears!

*Playing in the dirt with Aunt Karen. My child loves the dirt thanks to gardening with Aunt Karen :). She will dig and dig and get it EVERYWHERE! We have to watch for any sign of dirt/sand when we play outside because she will head straight for it and start digging!

*Reading Lacy's favorite book over and over and over and over again!!! She loves this book and I am pretty sure it is because I sing the part that says, "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be." She absolutely loves it. She brings it to anyone and expects them to read/sing it as well...over and over again! She rocks back and forth when it says, "back and forth, back and forth..." and will sing the song. All we understand is "baby" in the middle of a bunch of gibberish.

*SLEEPING!! Lacy has been sleeping 11-12 hours a night and taking about 2 hour naps which has been awesome. The last two days...Mommy has snuck in a little nap too!

WE LOVE SUMMERTIME!!!!!!

Last week Jason and I went to Seattle for my annual check-up for my VHL-Disease and unfortunately, I have another (fourth one!) pheochromocytoma on the adrenal gland I have left. It is a tumor about the size of a golf ball sitting right on top of my kidney. The doctor thinks he will probably have to open me up instead of doing it laproscopically. Obviously we want the latter because the recovery time would be much better but what we want more is for him to save the remaining adrenal gland so we will see. I will have surgery probably in about 6 weeks and am freaking out about leaving my baby overnight for SEVERAL nights!! I know we will get through it but it will be tough.
My sister and Clark visited this last weekend and it was really fun. They stayed with us and Lacy really loved all the attention. She loved Clark more then Savannah-lol. They are getting married in August and I can't wait to see it!
I got my grades: A, A, A, and A-. Not so bad! I am ready to get student teaching over and have my B.A.- it has been a long time coming!

Happy Mother's Day!

It is my second Mother's day already! Jason got me some really nice bar stools that I have been dying to get and some cute cards. I also got an awesome breakfast- eggs, bacon, hash browns and biscuits and gravy! Then at church all the Mom's got brownies and ice cream during relief society from the young men! All in all, a good day!

1st attempt at a craft this summer...

So I painted these letters for Lacy's room before she was born and I always thought they were kind of boring so I decided to try to something with them. I got the idea to put pictures of her first year all over them- kind of cheesy put it worked! I also mode podged for the first time to make them shiny- that part turned out pretty good!

IT IS FINALLY SUMMER!!!!

Recent Pics of Lacy...

So school is finally done and I am offcially done taking classes. Just student teaching and then graduation in december!! I am so ready! Until then, I get to have a fun summer at home with my Loo loo.
Speaking of Lacy-she is getting bigger and smarter everyday. She loves to play in the DIRT and being outside. She loves to try to repeat what we say and so far my favorite is "Mama mama mama." She has officially switched to one nap a day and is doing really good with it. She just got tubes put in her ears on friday and the only problem she had was coming out of the surgery. She was very ANGRY and screamed for a good 45 minutes. After that, it was like nothing ever happened. The doctor said he drained a lot of fluid and even had to scrap some "crusty" stuff off of the ear drum from past ear infections. Hopefully we will see a HUGE improvement in the area of ear infections. She has had 6 or 7 now. He also said her hearing should show improvement too. The only thing I have to worry about now is keeping water out of her ears- ear putty for EVERY bath- kinda sucks with summer time and swimming coming up but it is totally worth it!

Savannah and Clark...

Are FINALLY getting married!! Congrats! Save the Date: 8-21-2009

Wow- its been to long, but school is almost out!!!

Then... (Lacy's 1st Easter)

Now...

Ok so it has been well over a month since I have blogged and A LOT has been going on around here. Lacy had her 1st birthday and got lots of new clothes- exactly what she needed. Thanks everyone!! We moved into our house!!!! We have been here now just over two weeks. We have all adjusted pretty well and Jason and I still talk about how we just cannot believe this place is actually ours. We love it! I am 3 1/2 weeks away from being done with taking classes!! I get to have the whole summer off to stay home with Lacy and play before I start up student teaching and finish in december!! I am learning a lot this semester and really feel like I am ready to student teach-finally!
I have a million pictures of Lacy's birthday party but it takes forever to download them and I am skipping ahead to Easter- this is Lacy's 1st 2nd holiday (that we celebrated- I think St. Patrick's Day this year was a 2nd) which is pretty cool. We had an Easter egg hunt with the cousins and had lots of fun!
Starting May 8th, the blogging will start up again but until then- I have TONS of homework to do!!

Happy 1st Birthday Lacy Ann Self!!!

Then...

And Now...

(1 year professional pics will be coming soon...)
It is official...our little girl is One year old today!!!! How can it be?! It seems like she was born yesterday! One year ago today...
(At about 36 weeks and ultrasound confirmed that Lacy was indeed breech so a c-section was scheduled for thursday March 13th. I went into the hospital on the 11th for pre-op blood work etc. and that night...)
I woke-up around 2am with some "cramping" and decided to take a bath because I could not sleep. I was in the bathtub when I finally realized that I was having contractions...I was pretty sure it was false labor but I woke Jason and told him that I was having contractions and I went and sat in the living room because I could not lay down. At that point, I had started to time the contractions and they were about 6-8 minutes apart. Jason could not sleep so he came out and sat with me. I told him to shower and go to work and I would call if I needed to go to the hospital. He thought I was crazy and decided to call my doctor and ask what we should do. It was about 5am at this point. She said to come on in to the hospital. I thought to myself- "ya, ok, they are just gonna send me home and tell me to come back tomorrow for the c-section!!" I showered really quickly so I could wash my hair in case I did have her (couldn't have dirty hair-lol).
In the car on the way to the hospital the contractions were getting pretty close and worse. We went to the E.R. and had to wait there for someone to come down to get us and by then the contractions were only just under 5 minutes apart. I was freaking out and the E.R. people kept calling the maternity floor and telling them to hurry.
I got up to room and they just monitored me while waiting for my doctor...They would not tell me what the heck they were going to do... I kept thinking, "baby or no baby- there is no point in being labor if I HAVE to have a C-Section, just get the baby out already!!!" By about 8ish the contractions were 2-3 minutes apart and I was freaking in pain- I thought I had prepared myself for this but man I was wrong! Jason's Dad Mike came to the hospital and was there all day with us and got to see me and all my crankiness(kind of embarassing!) They finally came in and told me we would have a baby by 12ish...I thought that was way too long to wait-I was in pain! They laid me flat to "prep" me for the c-section around 9 and my water broke...and we are talking EVERYWHERE!! I was freaking out and telling them this baby was coming out now!! They started to finally take me seriously when they saw my water had broken and they realized they better get her out before she tries to come out herself-feet first. Then it was very rush rush and before you know it, she was born at 9:30am. The rest of the day was complete heaven- with a perfect little baby!!! Lacy Ann Self was 6lbs 8 ounces (same as cousin Hayden and Aunt Sheryl) and 18 inches long!
Daddy says he was...
"Relieved that everything went good and happy that she was finally here...It was the best feeling in the World to see her!!!"

Happy V-day! Its Lacy's last 1st holiday...

Happy Valentine's Day! It is officially Lacy's last 1st holiday (she has her first easter when she was exactly 1 week old!) and I just can't believe it. I always try to make it a big deal on her 1st's. It is sad that this is the last but it is great to see her growing and learning. Lacy got to wear her cute pink shirt we got her specifically for today and she got a card and a chocolate reese's heart from Daddy and a valentine's day book from Mommy. She also kind of helped me make a cad for her Daddy- she colored it.
Jason and decided to have a low-key day at home this year. 1- because we have Lacy now 2- because we are saving our money 3- because we have been so darn busy 4- because we have been so stinking sick and 5- because we can! I got Jason some chocolates, cards and an I.O.U for a favorite meal of his choice- dessert included. Jason got me a big bouquet of flowers that came today with a balloon and he also got me a card, a cute little teddy bear that has a picture frame with our picture in it and a box of chocolates- perfect!! He always know just what to get- unlike me! He is such a wonderful husband, daddy and supporter! I don't know what I would do without him. I am still so excited when he walks in the door every night! This is our 4th v-day together and we are still sooo in love! I love you babe!!

Headed to blockbuster with Mama and Dada...
