News from Lacyland...

My sweet little sick baby...

I haven't been posting very many blogs lately and we have Lacy to blame-lol! She has been fighting off one sickness after the other since a few days before Thanksgiving and Jason and I feel like the parents of a newborn baby all over again. The sleepless nights have been especially exhausting, she will wake-up at 2 or 3 in the morning and stay up for hours at a time. She never even did that as a newborn. She has had three ear infections now and the last one was pretty brutal. The antibiotics didn't work and before we realized it didn't work it caused vomiting and diarrhea and gave her a yeast infection and thrush. Not to mention she stopped eating. She has recently gotten her apetite back here in the last week which has been so great to see. I just get so irritated that we can't give her anything to make her feel better besides tylenol or motrin for the fever (which has been running 99 to 100 the last three days!) Well, today we took her in for her 9 month well child check-up and the doctor said that we actually can give her a very small dose of benadryl to help with the stuffiness and to help her sleep better at night. That is so great to know!! It was a relief to learn that the only shot she had to get today was a flu shot (Mommy and Daddy got one too!). We hate it when she has to get shots!
We also learned Lacy's 9 month stats today: She actually lost some weight since the last doctors visit about two weeks ago. She was 18 pounds and she is now 17 lbs 11 oz. which is in the 28th percentile. She is now 28 inches- growing like a weed! That is the 63rd percentile. I kind of figured she was tall and skinny because it seems all the clothes that fit good are too short.
Dr. Patillo says we need to start feeding her more "table" foods because she is not getting enough calories from the bottle and eating a few times a day. Only problem is Lacy is not much of a solid food eater yet and heck, she only has two teeth. We are so worried that she will choke! I guess we will just start slowly- she doesn't know how to gum stuff like a lot of other babies her age. She gags and chokes instead! I am excited to see what kinds of things she likes but nervous about things giving her a tummy ache.
Not to tut my own horn but Lacy is sooo smart. She says lots of words- baby, mama, dada and other random sounds. She loves to play patty cake, watch seasame street, the wiggles and curious george and does NOT like to sit still or sleep. She crawls all over the place and is really stnking fast. She is into exploring and loves to get into new things. She pulls herself up and walks along everything and every once in a while I catch her taking a few steps on her own from one place to another. She also will stand in one spot by herself for a pretty long time. She will be walking before we know it.
She is still a Mama's girl and it has gotten extreme. I love it and I hate it. It makes me feel great but sometimes it can be soooo exhausting. She won't let Daddy even put her to bed! Daddy is however her best play buddy. She loves to attack Daddy and laughs and laughs when he does goofy stuff.
I will be going back to school in just a few weeks now and I am dreading it but I think it will be good for Lacy to get some variety in her life :) I am just praying for the next 4 months to go by fast so we can be home together again for the summer in our NEW HOME (see blog entry below).
Miss Lacy has figured out how to open up our food cabinets...I was dreading this day. This was this afternoon...
