I found out online that Lubbock was having a centennial celebration with a parade and street fair, concert and fire works so we decided to go to that. We got out of Hobbs around noon and were excited to get there. I thought Lacy would sleep the whole way there but she decided to fuss instead. Poor thing was so hot and tired!
We got to Lubbock, checked into our hotel, fed the baby, took some pictures and headed out to the park.
After a long journey (the dang park was hard to find and it was even harder to find a decent place to park) we finally made it and found a place to lay out our blanket and relax. That didn't last long because I am not much for relaxing outdoors with a baby. There were ants crawling all over our blanket and all I could think was we are never going to make it until dark! My poor hubby was so annoyed! We decided to move. After we moved, I finally started to relax and I am so glad that we decided to stay. We had a great time! We ate real 4th of July food, corndogs, funnel cake, nachos, shaved ice! It was so nice to be able to spend time together as a family.
We also got lots of great pictures! We thought we would make it until dark so that we could watch the fireworks but Lacy woke-up from a nap grumpy and we knew it was time to head out. So besides all the bug bites we later discovered (thankfully, none on Lacy, that I can tell) and a grumpy Mommy- we had a great time in a beautiful place!
Beautiful blue eyes...
Lacy got to see some fireworks on T.V. that night at the hotel after her bath. The best we could do with a cranky, tired baby! She did seem to like them though.
