I wish I was two years old because...

Then when I dressed myself, no matter what I looked like, I would still be super cute,

and I could be pushed around on my tricycle instead of having to go through all the work of pedaling it myself,

and I could eat powdered rasberry filled donuts for dessert and have no consequences (only a sugar high and a big old mess!)

and I could dress up in my Daddy's work gear (watch, badge and hard hat) and be totally adorable!

and it would be completely acceptable to run around in only Daddy's sweatband after my bath,

and FINALLY, someone would actually force me to take a nap and I would need one of these... (which I am thinking about investing in) :)

The Pacifier Fairy has visited our home!

Well, we weren't as lucky as we thought we were. After 3 days, Lacy finally realized that her beloved pacifiers were missing from her bed and she let me know. She cried and cried for them until I decided it was time to have the pacifier fairy talk. I got her out of bed and we got the pacifiers out and we talked about how all the babies need the paa paa's and how she is a big girl now who sleeps in a big girl bed and doesn't need them. She was all excited at first but then when we took them outside and LEFT them for the pacifier fairy, she was not happy.
I had to hang out in her room and rub her back a little today and she finally calmed down and went to sleep. I had promised that the Pacifier Fairy would bring something special. Wasn't sure yet what I was going to do about that until I remembered Garalene was out and about. I called and asked if she could come sit here while I ran to Walgreens and grabbed a Princess cup that Lacy had her eye on last time we were there. She was going to come until her kids called and needed her home so I improvised and she got a balloon (left from the bday party and still with enough helium to float), a letter, some candy from the pantry and two dollars to go and buy the cup herself.
When she got up she was pretty excited to see what the pacifier fairy had left. We went Walgreens on the way to gymnastics and the cup she wanted was not there anymore but she got a Princess book and a Princess light-up-spinnning-Easter egg thingy. She has been looking at her letter a lot and pointing and naming all the babies that got her pacifiers. Hopefully it works and we are back to a non crying nap/bedtime before no time!!

Leaving the pacifiers for the Pacifier Fairy...

After she realized she wasn't actually going to get them...

What the Pacifier Fairy left...

Checking out what she got...

Showing off the stuff she bought and reading her letter...

My Child has successfully mastered the Lamberana!

And very well if I do say so myself!!

I'm so hungry...

I'm about to go there...

Thats right, a half eaten, slobbered on, two day old cupcake that belongs to my two year old.

BUT I'm not gonna go there because...

What is missing from these pictures?

If you guessed pacifiers, you're RIGHT!
Yesterday when I was changing Lacy's sheets, I put the pacifiers away. I decided if her bed is going to be accessible at all times the pacifiers should be put where she can't see them. So last night when we put her to bed in her new "big girl bed" we decided not to mention them. The doctor did say to only give them to her if she asks for them. I don't know if it was all the excitement about the new bed or what but she didn't ask for them, not ONCE. She layed in there and talked a little and then went right to sleep. No pa pa's!! I was floored. I thought it would take a week of screaming for them.
Fast forward to 8:30am. I heard Lacy calling for me so I got up and went to the bathroom. As I was coming out, she went running by. Then she saw me and said, "I did it, I got down all by myself!" I was hoping it would take her longer to discover that but whatever.
Today at naptime she crawled into bed and I kissed her goodnight (still no mention of the pacifiers). I walked out and shut the door and not 1 minute later she came out with this big smile on her face like, "yep, I can get out of bed now, what are you going to do about it?" I told her it was naptime and kissed her and put her back in bed. I told her to stay in bed until after she took a nap. She cried and cried for a good 5 minutes and I even heard her murmur once, "I need a paapaa" but I left her and she went to sleep pretty quickly. Slept for 1 1/2 hours and then said, "Mommy?" I went in to get her and she was standing right inside the door whining. It was as if she was unsure if she should come out or not.
I told her good job for staying in her bed and taking a nap and told her she could come out.
I can't believe she is so big and no pacifiers?! Already? So far so good but we will see how bed time goes.

Two year stats...

Lacy had her two year well child check-up this last week.

Height: 34 inches (55th percentile)
Weight: 27 pounds (55th percentile)

She had to get a shot too and she is always such a trooper because I like to make a big deal about how exciting it is to get a shot. She went in saying, "I want my shot!" I knew she didn't remember last time so I thought it was pretty funny.(Side note: last time (18 months) she didn't even cry, she just kind of laughed). This time, she cried a little and then got a band-aid and we were all good.
I had given her tylenol before the appt. and before nap but when she woke-up she wouldn't even walk on her leg, guess it was pretty sore. She called Daddy to tell him about it and was crying into the phone, "Daddy, I got an ouweeee, my shot hurts! I want a cupcake!" Don't know where that came from but she got the sympathy vote from Daddy because he came home with some yummy chocolate cupcakes just for Lacy. (And possibly to sabotage Mommy's diet ;)
Funny part is, after she got off the phone with Daddy she had some motrin and within 30 minutes she was running around the park with Carson as if nothing ever happened.

We've done it...

I always said I would wait until she started climbing out of the crib before I converted. I was hoping she would be 3 or 4.I know, I know wishful thinking right but why would I go through the torture of having to keep her in bed and then worry about whether or not she was going to stay in bed? Well, her crib is on its last leg, we were holding the side that slides up and down on with zip ties (please, call the people who hand out the parents of the year award :). I knew that we wouldn't be using this as a crib for anymore kids to come and I also knew that if you took one side off it became a toddler bed so this was my plan all along.
We decided to test her out at naptime so we took the side off and put her in bed. She stayed in there and took a two hour nap. When she woke-up, she just layed there until we came to get her. So, we put the safety rail up and we are going to try bedtime too. I think she just doesn't realize yet that now she can actually get out of her bed without us. Cross your fingers that this conversion goes good. We will keep you updated...

I know it doesn't look like it but she can actually get in and out of her bed at the very end.

If you have a two year old...

This is what you may find around your house after you put that crazy two year old down for a nap...

Happy Birthday Lacy Ann Self!!!

March 2008 (birth):

March 2009(1 year):

March 2010 (2 years):

I can't believe it has been 2 years since I gave birth to our beautiful baby girl in Hobbs, NM on March 12, 2008 @ 9:30am. (See blog from March 12, 2009 for all the details) She was a 6 pound 8 ounce 18 inch bundle of joy.

Lacy started her day with IHOP pancakes and fruit which she loved. She tried to tell the waiter it was her birthday but he didn't hear her. Then we went to probably her favorite place on Earth, the park!! It was cold and windy but nothing will keep this girl down. She had a blast. Afterwards, Mommy and Daddy headed to the gym and Lacy got to hang out with Grandma and Papa for a little bit and you'll never guess what they did: played at the park. Needless to say, she was worn out by nap time. Mommy and Daddy brought her McDonalds for lunch and then she went down for a 3 HOUR nap. Guess on your birthday a long nap is required.
Then it was off to Red Robin for a brithday dinner. We had about 20 family members there. Uncle Spencer, Aunt Stefany, Hayden, Nonna, Grandma, Papa, Aunt Karen, Uncle David, Mitch, Jake, Landon, Tiana, Great Grandma Joy, Great Great Aunt Julie and Brannigan. And Mommy, Daddy and Lacy too of course. Lacy was on cloud nine, grinning from ear to ear when they sang to her and brought her ice cream and even clapped with them.
After dinner, the three of us came home for a little Cinderella cake (so cute and she loved it) and a few presents from Mommy and Daddy. And now as I type we are laying in Mommy and Daddy's bed watching Curious George 2 The Movie that Lacy got today from Grandma. A perfect day for a 2 year old princess.
Tomorrow is the big day for her Curious George Birthday party!! She has been telling everyone that her birthday party is Curious George. I will post pics later when I have time but that will have to wait, I am going to go cuddle with the best husband and daughter on Earth and watch Curious George. I did promise to post some of her 2 year pics that were taken yesterday so here they are...

A Day in the Life of Lacy Ann Self...

8:30 am: Lacy yells for Mommy to come get her from her bed (and yes, you will see a pacifier in her mouth if and only IF she is in her crib...judge me if you please!)

8:45am: Watch Curious George in Mommy's Bed!

9am: Breakfast time...Lucky Charms and Toast. She actually has recently started to pick only the marshmallows out and eat them only.
Other favs for breakfast- Blueberry Muffins, Pancakes and Eggs. And of course she TRIES to convince us that "chocolate bummy rabbits" are also appropriate for breakfast, not happening.

9:30am: Potty time and get dressed time...she loves her princess pull-ups!

9:35am: Watch some Seasame Street while she gets her hair done.

10am: Coloring time

10:30am: Get our shoes on (she actually sat there for a good 5 minutes trying to do it all by herself before she finally said, "Mommy you help me please?" so cute) and head to Carson's house for a 2 mile walk to the park. Lacy LOVES the park and it is probably her favorite place to go right now.

11:30am: Lacy takes a tumble and gets some pretty good road rash on her hand...it actually looked pretty bad but she didn't cry much. I am more then positive it was because her hands were so cold from the wind and what not (forgot the gloves) that they were actually numb.

12:30pm: Head home to Aunt Garalene's for some lunch. (Nice stroller huh?)

1pm: Lunch at Aunt Garalene's where Lacy's hands thawed out and we cleaned up her little boo boo. This is when she started to feel it and actually wouldn't really use it. We ended up putting a glove on because I couldn't cover it all with band-aids and she ended up leaving it on until we got to gymnastics over 4 hours later.

1:50pm: Potty time before nap. Note: Crazy hat hair alert!

2pm: Nap time...gotta have those "paa paa's"

4pm: Up from nap and getting ready for gymnastics. A trip to the potty and her princess chair to get her hair re-done to go to gymnastics. The glove is still covering the dramatic booboo.

5:15pm: Gymnastics with Carson. I didn't get any other pics because it is hard to chase a two year old around AND take pics.

6:30pm: Dinner with Mommy (Daddy usually eats with us but he worked late today :() Lacy had one of her favs...Gerber ravioli's. They are nasty bland things that she will down anytime.

7pm: Watching Night at the Museum, the 2nd one (Oddly enough, this is one that she picks a lot now) while Mommy does the dishes and gets the house cleaned up.

7:30pm: We can't forget the ever present two year old tantrums...this one occuring because I wouldn't let her close the dishwasher while I was trying to load it.

8pm: Bath time!!

8:30 pm: Ready for bed and she got to stay up late tonight to wait for Daddy to get home. (Still treating the hand as if it might fall off if she uses it)

9pm: Daddy's finally home and offers Lacy and little oreo cakester snack before bed.

9:15pm: Bed time finally. Lacy is getting good at saying her prayers. She got a book from Daddy and went straight to bed! Love you little cutie...can't believe she is almost two!
